Juventud Guerrera On The Juice is Loose Tour

Juventud Guerrera is the headline attraction for the latest CWE tour. Canadian Wrestling’s Elite continue to promote shows for The Juice is Loose tour. Guerrera had a run in WWE as one-third of The Mexicools and played a huge role, in ECW as well as WCW, in exposing Lucha Libre to an entirely new North American audience. Check out cwecanada.net and cwetickets.com for information on how to get tickets and for when Juvi will be coming through your neck of the woods. LM2’s Dylan Bowker was fortunate enough to speak with Guerrera while this tour was taking place.

When Juventud Guerrera performs, it is a party and you don’t need to RSVP. Guerrera said, “I’m inviting everyone to get juicy with me and enjoy a really fun show.” For someone to have such a genuine sense of enthusiasm is amazing considering how long Guerrera has been wrestling for.

After a run on the AAA circuit, Guerrera entered the soon to be hallowed halls of a vaunted Philapdelhia bingo hall. This venue would gain infamy and become known as the ECW arena with Guerrera tearing it up alongside Lucha Libre luminaries like Psicosis and Rey Mysterio. ECW chants still fill arenas almost twenty years after the company closed shop and ECW reunions are still relatively regular happenings. Guerrera stated, “It’s always good to be back hanging around with the old school guys like Sandman and Sabu. ECW was one of the best times in my life.”

Perhaps that aforementioned enthusiasm for Guerrera is a by-product of never resting on his laurels. Guerrera seems keen on wearing different hats and looking to learn altogether new facets of the business. One instance of this comes in Guerrera’s recent efforts as a promoter. Juventud Guerrera quipped, “Down in Mexico, I’m working on my own company now which is called La Super X. I’m excited to be a little bit on the business side too down in Mexico. Once you’ve been for so long in the business you want to try to do your own in a company.”

Juventud Guerrera is also enjoying the rich modern wrestling landscape. With AEW gaining steam with their weekly TV show ‘AEW Dynamite’ on TNT, Guerrera had to check it out. He stated, “I think it’s pretty good. The camera angles they’re doing and everything is kind of fresh and new. It makes it exciting for me because it’s still TNT. The company that was still working back in the 90’s. We’ll see what happens. As long as I’m healthy and juicy, I feel like the door is open. I’m very happy for wrestling because we have another option finally now.”

In regards to whether he preferred being in a faction or singles competition, Guerrera said, “I like a little bit of everything….It’s good to have different kinds of groups in new generations like right now the group Chris Jericho is doing. It’s still exciting to have a group but I like to be singles too. It don’t really matter. As long as I’m happy doing what I’m doing, it’s ok. It’s all good.”

Seeing some of the younger talents get out there, it harkens back to Guerrera’s mindset in the 90’s. Wanting to seize the opportunity and make an unforgettable first impression during the Monday Night Wars. Guerrera stated, “We always wanted to improve and do something crazy. Sometimes we took the chance and we were pretty crazy back then and still now. We just want to go out there and make a statement.”

Guerrera has always been able to hold onto that fire and desire to wow the crowd. Juventud Guerrera is still out there taking bumps with these young guys but is also refining their skills. Mentoring them and paying forward the knowledge he has gained over decades in the business. Guerrera said, “It’s really cool to hang out with a lot of new guys. They knew me from before. I’m working a guy that’s 18 years old. Him and like Killer Kross they can get advice from me. It’s kind of unique to be able to do that and help the new generation.”

Bowks Talking Bouts

In summation, Guerrera described what CWE fans can expect during this cross country jaunt through Canada until early December. He stated, “The shows are really fun. They’re really cool. Everybody works hard and I’m sure you’re going to have a great time. So come by and get juicy with me.”
