Motor City Boxing Club held an event titled “Resurrection” on Sunday, June 2nd. Best Western Plus played host to the Oshawa, Ontario club show. The 12 bout afternoon card delivered in a big way and featured multiple Motor City representatives. But clubs from throughout the province came out to show their skills.
“Resurrection” Highlights
One of the pugilists I was able to speak to at “Resurrection” was nine year old Boxer, Cael Smith. Cael eventually scored a split decision win by using his jab, working his reach well, and making adjustments as the fight progressed.
“He was pretty quick at punching so I had to try and adjust to it. Try and move around better so I didn’t get hit too much”

I caught up with Cael pre and post-fight to get his thoughts on his opening bout with Damian Garcia.

“Resurrection” also featured a bout between Motor City Boxing club members. Greg Gusterson fought Jeff Launay in the co-main event bout and Greg touched base with me prior to the bout.

Jeff Launay was in a unique situation being in his 40’s and debuting as a Boxer. Jeff provided insights to his intriguing story before the fight.
“It’s like a bucket list kind of thing….I didn’t want to think too much about what it would feel like because I didn’t want to get too far ahead of myself…..It feels better than I could have let myself imagine”

I also caught up with Jeff after his eventual TKO victory at Motor City Boxing Club “Resurrection”.

Greg also caught up with me in passing after the loss. Greg’s big takeaway was that his cardio needs to level up. Gusterson’s perception is that he needs to get better at managing his energy for the next fight.
