It was great getting to speak with Pavel Lyutenko right after winning his professional Boxing debut at the May 9th Shaw Boxing card. It was the opening bout for the 34th edition of the Shaw Boxing Evening. A tradition that has historically been a multi-million dollar fundraiser for the Shaw Festival.
Shaw Boxing matchmaker Jim Gentle put together a great tilt to kick off the night. Pavel and Tamas Munkacsi got the crowd at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel in Toronto sufficiently fired up. The four round, Super Middleweight affair marked the pro debuts of both combatants.

Pavel held the Vince Bagnato Cup proudly after scoring a unanimous decision over Tamas Munkacsi. Lyutenko took pictures with fans whilst holding the trophy all throughout the night after his triumph in the Canadian room.
“For me this is very symbolical and May 9th this is victory day.”

Pavel Lyutenko spoke to LMM representative Dylan James Bowker about what kind of schedule he wants in 2019. In addition, Lyutenko articulated on the key moment of the Munkacsi fight and what it was like competing in front of the Toronto faithful.
The Ukranian pugilist was kind enough to give LM2 some of his time amidst being flanked by droves of fans. During the interview, Pavel’s sister was able to provide accurate translations during the conversation. Above all, Pavel wants to bring even more action in future prize fights.
“See more fight, see more action……I tried showing everyone what I can do and what I know.”
