Steven Wilcox represented Hamilton, Ontario in this bout and there was a vocal contingent for him in the audience. Wilcox is able to further galvanize his efforts in the ring when the crowd is getting behind him.
“Any time you got local Hamiltonians coming out to support you, it gives you that extra drive. When you’re in that ring and things are going well, you hear let’s go hammer…it gives you that extra boost”
LM2’s Dylan Bowker interviewed Steven post-fight. The two discussed Wilcox’s thoughts on collecting some more championship hardware, his prior history of fighting at the Royal York Hotel, and his technical breakdown of the Roody Pierre Paul fight.
Steven Wilcox also discussed the amount of fights he wants for the remainder of 2019.
Steven’s birthday was the day prior to this Super Lightweight title bid. As Wilcox readied for his belated birthday celebration, he recalled what his mother had said to him prior to this main event championship fight.
“That’s what my mum said……Your birthday present this year, Steven. You’ve got to go get that on your own. We can’t do it for you….and we did”
